This is a single Block plan for using scraps, each block finished to an

8 1/2"x8 1/2" block.

Double Slice modified to 9in base

Starting with 6"x 42" WOF scraps? Do a modified Double Slice.

Makes 8 1/2"x 8 1/2" finished blocks.

Based on Jenny Doan's Double Slice tutorial: https://youtu.be/jxC-0T5lXw4

I do these with 6" and 3" slices instead of her original Layer Cake. (Hers are 6 1/2" and 3 1/2" slices, mine are scaled down to 6"and 3" slices. You just make them 9 inches square as a base size (finishes to 8 1/2" square) instead of the original 10" starting size.

You need an equal number of 3” strips and 6” strips but if you are starting with all 6" x 42" - cut some strips 3" x 42" (cut your 6" ones in half full width of fabric)

Step 1. Cut one of your strips contrasting 6"x WOF in half to make 2 of 3"wide strips.

Step 2. Sew one 3" strip to one 6" strip in contrasting colors.

Step 3. Subcut each of those strip sets into 9" blocks

Step 4. Cut each 9" block down center so there’s a 3" "top and 6"bottom

Step 5. Flip half of each block and sew back together or mix half block combos for scrappier colors overall
